It would be nice, and legal for many! Most people drive that speed anyway.
I would also like a law that would say: left lane for passing only.

I think this applies to I-10, I-20 in west Texas only. In emissions controlled counties I doubt it'll go higher than the current 65.

I hate the slow riders in the left lane. That causes the most accidents, because people have to move into slower traffic to pass them. That's my biggest pet peeve on the freeways. And passing does not mean taking fifteen seconds to pass a Nissan Versa.

I've traveled that section of I-10 west of San Antonio and whether its 80mph or 85 or even 90, it'll lull you to sleep. Only the excitement of going fast enough to be pulled over can keep you awake.

You guys are missing 2 major points for this. This will only be on freeways that can support this speed and built this year and on.

As for the new speed I think it's stupid.

60 minutes west of SA. I know because I made the drive from EL Paso to Houston about 5 times. It's 80 during the day and 65 at night. It goes back down to 70mph once you hit EL Paso County.

Yeah, I'm all for increased speed limits. In fact, there are some really desolate, lonely stretches of road in Texas, (the rest of the western US as well), where one could argue that no speed limit is necessary.....
