Well, Republic Service was willing to meet my needs by having the serviceman pull the trashcan for me back and forth from the driveway. My problem is that I have a steel gate that is blocking half way down the driveway. So, I just push the trashcan all the way out to the front and he pushes half way back for me. Fortunately, the trashcan is quite big and I don't have alot of trash. I haven't had the need to pull it out at every pick up. I also tried to avoid doing it on rainy days. I feel bad for the driver having to come out in the rain on account of me. The guys (sometimes there are 3 of them) have been extremely curteous with me and are always cheerful. The least I can do is being thoughtful.

Sometime, you just have to accept things as they are especially when people are willing to meet you half way, if not all the way. Personally, it's a bit rough with my disability but as with most everything in my life, I've come to accept this arrangement. Hey, it could have been worse. Besides, just because I'm disabled, I shouldn't ask for the moon. Reasonable accomodation is all I ask for. Other than that, I'd just have to adapt to the situation and be thankful for all the blessings that come along.

Wow - that is great that they are willing to do that for you. Glad the company is meeting you halfway.

Default Hate this 96 gallon trash can

we live near pastures and fields .. we have seen big rats, field mice, raccoons and opossums climb up the side of these cans in the evening. We were told vermin, dogs and cats couldn't bother these cans. Little dogs can't knock these things over but big dogs can. Cats just climb into the can and bump the lids open with their heads.
We have had to clean up plenty of messes.
We were told not to park cans in street but then later after people had trees and bushes broken by the claw crane.. we were told to park our cans in the street.
We were also told to park our cans in the street or out of site of neighbors. Putting it in the garage is terrible.. vermin squeeze under the garage doors or chew on the frame to get t the cans that sit from Saturday to the next Friday full of garbage goodness.
Flies are horrendous. If we weren't getting rid of horseflies and house flies.. it was gnats!
We also saw big roaches infesting the garbage can.. we hadn't had bug problem till these garbage cans..
I didn't know what a feral cat colony was until these cans came about.. This wouldn't be so bad if A.) we had cans that fit our family of five we need two cans.. we have to use extra garbage cans and then sit and wait for the garbage man to empty extra loads.. B.) or have more than one trash day like they use to.
We also take our trash to the dump.. something they don't tell you is you can't bring your trash can on city property.. my elderly dad was told very rudely " Don't bring that thing on city property..don't dump your trash until that thing is off our property take it home!"

We compost and recycle, so that takes care of most of our waste. Plus I try to buy items with as little packaging as possible. But even though the can may be only 1/4 full, I still try to take it to the curb at least every other week just to keep the stink away!
