The graffiti on the shuttle is just another sad commentary on the lack of respect people have for anything any more.

Not having wasted two hours reading this thread, I hope everyone finally come around to realize we got the better end of the deal by getting the training prop?

If you don't agree with that though, at least hear me out.. While the other cities might have an actual space shuttle, the most you'll be able to do is walk around it. Our prop is going to allow us to walk THROUGH it, to actually see how the astronauts used the shuttle and what it was like on the inside. I would much rather see that, than just the outside.

That is an interesting point. I've heard people say that the trainer lacks the historical value; however, if this trainer was used by all the shuttle astronauts preparing for all the missions, that has quite a bit of value.

What Houston ended up with is something unique that no one else has anywhere. While yes, it is a fake shuttle, it is a very realistic copy, complete with what the inside of a real one looks like. It was used to train astronauts at one time. It will be mounted atop a real 747 carrier and you will be able to walk through both the 747 and shuttle.

The real shuttles were pretty much gutted of everything and will be on display to view from outside only...and none of them mounted on a 747.

I laugh when I hear people saying that "It's not the real shuttle"
I bet 99% of people in Houston can't tell the difference between a real shuttle and one made out of wood.

Damn, I was expecting something more like "If I get splinters, I know is not the real thing"
