We lived in Lindale Park for a while and while hardly "upscale" (a la Memorial or River Oaks) it did seem to have a very positive vibe among some middle-class Hispanic folks as a desirable neighborhood - and the neighborhood only seems to have gone up in desirability since then (this was nearly 20 years ago that we lived there).

Try Sugar Land? It is NOT an upscale Latino neighborhood, but the majority isn't white. My husband is Latino and we have many, many friends from all over Latin America- the biggest presence is Venezuelan (by far), but we know several families that are Colombian, Mexican, Ecuadorean, Peruvian, etc. Most are oil execs, and most of the moms I know stay at home, all of the families we know have kids.

I'm not sure if you go to church or have kids, but if you go to a Spanish mass you will meet tons of families this way after church. If you have kids, you can "network" that way. PM me if you want more info, we have a huge network of friends who are Latino, educated, middle class, etc.

I know a hispanic doctor who lives in Katy. Seems to like it there, and says diversity is increasing

I would say Woodlands. Many wealthy Mexicans are moving to the Woodlands because of the violence in Mexico.

yeah, we had a few Mexican National families on my street up there. I would say The Woodlands, while many complain that it's not diverse, IS more diverse than some sections within the city of Houston.

there seems to be a hub in friendswood that has a close knit community of pretty active "well to do" hispanic families. active i.e. involved in politics in the region, advocacy and social organizations.

that is purely anecdotal

To the OP: when you see your neighbors, do you wave and smile? Very few people can resist that. Everyone is waiting on someone else to make the first move.

I would not recognize some of my neighbors in a line up. We are very friendly with the ones who share a common border. When an ambulance pulled up in front of my house, several people I do not know except to wave and smile, how are you fine, did call the person they know we are close with to come help. They were all standing by waiting to help, and did.
All you need to do is have a dessert party. Everyone on the block will be there. I do it the Sunday evening around Valentine's day.

To answer your question yes we do. As a matter a fact we chit chat a bit with our next door neighbors but thats as far as we get. Just feels like out efforts don't get reciprocated. We have taken them food and a present for there newborn.
