Hi everyone, I'm a long time lurker on here. My fiancee and I both work in the med center and are looking to buy in Lindale Park. We found a house we love but have many people telling us how it's such a terrible area and that their cousin's neighbors brother got shot and killed 2 blocks from the house we're putting an offer on and that the area is just riddled with millions of gangs. Of course I didn't see any of that when we were there and I am only seeing good things on here. Any information you could share would be greatly appreciated!

It's a great area. The area around it can be a little rougher, but Lindale Park itself is becoming better and should continue to do so. The neighborhood was planned out to have a much different feel that the surrounding neighborhoods. Larger lot sizes, bigger homes, some have all brick, and wider streets.

Your friends are probably not familiar with Lindale Park and only familiar with the "north side."

Absolutely false that it is riddled with gangs, etc. I have friends over there, sold several homes there and spent a lot of time there. Crime is very low. Go about 6:30 to 7:00 and drive Helmers from Canadian to Kelly back and forth and look at the people out walking in the evenings.

Now east of there on the other side of Robertson Street it falls off a cliff, but the same can be said for a lot of areas. Lindale Park is perfectly fine.

Lived there ~ 20 years ago and it is holding up well. It is not the suburbs - so if you are a suburb-only person you should stay away. Otherwise, go for it!

I did have a lawn mower stolen while we lived there. I got over it.
