I am looking for a 2 bedroom/1 bath apartment in Alief. I lived in the Houston area before and understand Alief is now changing even faster. Where is it safe? And please, no responses such as "it is all dangerous" because I know that to be not the case. I know the bad parts of bad but I am sure there are still some areas North of the Tollway or perhaps towards 6 or Meadows Place that are just fine.

Haven't been out there lately - I avoid the Westparkinglot like I do mononucleosis - but one more decent person moving into Alief makes the place that much better. If you feel comfortable there, go out and take a look.

I like to be hopeful about the west/southwest side, even as bleak as it can be today. It needs some good people with vision to come in.

Those good people are already there. They're just outnumbered. We have too many kids down there that are on the wrong track. Worse part of it is, many of them have choices.

apartments in alief are really difficult to recommend. maybe you can look into renting a house in a gated community?

BTW the westpark tollway is a fast route now - it generally is when school is out.

Okay guys, how about I frame it like this. My impression is along Meadows Place (Bellfort) is still fine however it's pretty bad slightly north. Is this correct?

Depending on how much you can pay, there's definitely good complexes on Richmond and Westheimer near Kirkwood and Dairy Ashford. Perhaps some on Bellaire and Bellfort. I think you should go to one of those sites where people post apartment reviews.

My brother used to live in some apartments off of Richmond on Windchase called Savannah Place. He's very particular/picky and he never complained about anything out the ordinary. Whenever I went over to visit, all seemed very quiet and the grounds were well kept. He just recently moved out about 6 months ago after buying a home near his daughters' school.

Default alief

run the other way. it is a virtual ghetto with crime and schools that cannot meet the needs of high poverty. check out how many teachers leave everyyear for other districts with a different population
