Now, if rednecks start a type of music that is played at twice the normal speed so you can enjoy it while high on meth, and it snowballs(heh) into a fairly mainstrem recognizable movement that mourns the loss of life due to using said drugs, Ill likewise complain about that.
Wow, whether or not you like DJ Screw and his influence, how can you deny his legacy and at least respect what he and other have made out of it?

Now tell me a genre of music that normally sounds better when sober..

I like listening to the Radio because it keeps me aware of new music. But thats just once in a while most of the music on there is pretty repetitive and I could care less for it...

I havent heard of tributes to former DJ's who died of speed overdoses who are revered years and years laters as pioneers, just as idiots who snorted too much coke.

But yes, that situation's just as ridiculous.

You mean tributes to people like jimi hendricks, and Janis Joplin, and all the other rocks stars who died of a drug overdose, but their fans still pay tribute to. You mean those kind of tributes.

True they did drugs like there is no tomorrow, but there is a huge difference between Hendrix/Joplin and the category of 'music' being referenced in this thread. Hendrix had serious demons, but also created his own music instead of rehashing previous work.

UGK is (was) actually pretty good but that one's a bit off the deep end. The most I did was take this impressive mural for my photo albums:

San Antonio @ 4th Street, Port Arthur TX if you want to see it for yourself.

According to whom? For the record, I'm not aware that Screw ever marketed himself as a musician. He was a DJ, and there's definitely a difference (however, I do believe he had some original work in his portfolio).

Whether or not you consider his work to be real music or art is your opinion, but that's all it is...an opinion. Just so we're clear...
