I'm moving to Houston at the end of this summer with a friend. I wanted to know what kind of place Houston really is. Can anyone fill me in?

like, what is there to do at night?
is there a downtown area for exploration?
is there stuff to do outdoors?
and what are the main food places like?

Thanks in advance!

It's like any big city - depends on what you like to do. Rents vary. Jobs vary. Entertainment varies. The largest number of ethnic retaurants in the world - well, they vary.

The city is diverse - so it varies, too.

Come here with an open mind, and marketable job skills - and you will be happy.

Bingo. I'm a little surprised she asked these questions. Houston is so big; it should be expected.

I am beginning to think the rest of the world sucks. We are so much better, if these are the questions.

I am the 6th generation of my family to live in the city I live in now my entire life. It's not a big city and there isn't much to do. LA and San Diego are the biggest cities I've ever visited and the questions were the same.
Some cities have variations and others don't. I was trying to get a feel for Houston before I got out there.
I'm not a ditz. They were ligament questions.

I think you meant "legitimate." Regardless, you asked some pretty broad questions. Give some thought to using the google to finding out some of the basics about the city. You might be surprised at what you find!

Houston is a very large city, big like LA, so yes, there's a downtown...tons of nightlife.....more restaurants than you can throw a stick at, and there are outdoor things to do as well.
