I will not go and buy a Kindle still like the book thing with the dust call me old school but I do believe all these electronics are going to be an issue one of these days. I am a big book snob and just love books not so much loving the electronics. I believe technology is great but having a book is an addiction and looking through typed pages and sometimes handwritten novel is great!!!!!! So sorry to hear Borders is closing up.

I don't think books will ever go away. MP3's are the norm now for music but people still seek out and purchase vinyl records. I think the same will be true for books.

I much prefer digital to print. If I were rich, I would convert my entire library immediately.

That's a crying shame. I have fond memories of the Borders at the corner of the World Trade Center. There used to be a Krispy Kreme about 50 feet away. I was wondering if Borders would once again occupy a corner of the rebuilt WTC...

I will miss Borders. I like bookstores in general and Borders was a special one. I do wish there were more small non-chain bookstores, but there is not much I can do about it as I don't have the money to start one up.

I have a friend who is losing his job with the shutdown.

I've never had the chance to go to a Borders store.

Ditto. I just love books and will always buy them but would like a Kindle for convenience while traveling.

I totally agree. I love the simplicity of reading on paper.

And sometimes I just get tired of looking at a screen. I do it all day at work, I'd like something tangible and not back-lit.
