So I moved to Houston last week. My company put me up in a hotel in Pearland - where I'll be here for a month while I work and find an apartment to move to. I find that Pearland is okay, but a bit slow. Seems like a nice place to raise a family.

Here's my background:

Single, Early 30s, educated with a salary of around 70K. I'm looking for a place to rent that is around 1K - maybe 1100 with electric.

I'm interested in being in a community with other younger professionals, decent social/nightlife and isn't a ghetto magnet.

Ive been to the Galleria area; and liked it. Also some folks recommended Midtown?

Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I would say Midtown, Montrose if you are okay with duplexes, etc. Maybe some complexes around the Washington Heights area.

What area of town are you working in. Single, - I'd go Midtown, The Heights, or the Kirby and Westheimer area

I would choose midtown because you can take 288 straight South to your work in Pearland. You do work there, correct?

Don't work in Pearland, work in the ports, mostly Houston - but often travel to Beaumont, Mobile, New Orleans ... so lots of travel involved.
