Grass Fed meats in Houston (Austin, College Station: for sale, city hall, house)

Anybody know where to find grass-fed beef, pork, and chicken in or near the Galleria area? I think Whole Foods has some but I'd like a greater choice.

Any ideas?

Look for any meats that say "Free Range". Those livestock are not usually fed grains, or whatever concoctions of food that are man made. Healthier, but more costly too. Wimpier too, but hey, you don't get all that "extra" stuff in your food, harmones, pesticides, etc.

I tend to like free range myself, except when it comes to beef. Grain fed beef produces more marbling in meats, and let's face it, fat is what gives everything and anything flavor, especially grilled meats. I'm not talking fat that drips off the meat, but just enough to stay in the meet and flavor it. Aging the meat, and the marbled fat together make one tasty steak!

The Highland Village Farmers Market on Saturday mornings has grass-fed meat vendors. They are happy to take orders. The market is in the parking lot behind Jos. A. Bank, across the side street next to Escalantes.

I just don't "get" the premise that a farmers market is populated primarily with food vendors. Not just the Highland Village one but also that one downtown in front of City Hall on Wednesdays. Don't get me wrong, I actually like the downtown one as I can walk over and get a fabulous lunch and listen to live music which is a great break in the middle of my week. But farmers don't "grow" quiches and crepes and most of the the things for sale at these markets, they grow produce which is in very short supply at these markets. I am not opposed to the concept, just to the naming of them as farmers markets.

It's true there isn't much fruity or vegetable-y produce at the Highland Village Farmer's Market that I've seen. But the ranchers bring frozen meats and will take orders for the following week or for delivery. I also get delicious olive oil and vinegars from the Texas Hill Country Olive Co. These are farmers with a different kid of 'produce'. I wonder if we see less fruit/vegetable produce at the Houston Farmer's Markets because it's often eleventy billion degrees outside during the peak fruit/veggie months?

Yonder Way Farm delivers all over Houston on a regular basis, they do a lot more than just grass fed beef. The best meat I've ever taste came from them, we also buy their eggs and chicken from time to time when we aren't producing our own.
