A guy in my office has just transferred here fromt he UK and needs to furnish his new house with contemporary furniture. He doesn't really want the very hard-edge look but also not traditional. Can anyone suggest some places for him to look?

Thanks

Star Furniture or The Arrangement. Tell him to bring his checkbook.

Ronnie

Depending on his budget, Crate and Barrel came out with their Fall line and it's really masculine but not so hard and cold contemporary.

And hey, last season's stuff will most likely go on sale...

But I agree with Star Furniture. We found a lot of great stuff there. Their outlet center at Airline and I-45 is a great place to look too.

Cantoni (9889 Westheimer Road , Houston TX 77042). Definitely more Euro-contemporary than Crate and Barrel.

Default Leather furniture repair

I have pretty expensive italian leather furniture in needs of minor repair. After agresive bouncing from my kids I now have some tears in the leather couches. Is there a shop or invividual that can come to the house and fix that kind of problem?

Guidance is greately apreciated.

I agree with Cantoni, but it's awful expensive.
Houston do not have many contemporary furniture stores, sadly.
Oh... what about BoConcept and Danish Inspirations?

If he's up for a roadtrip, I'd suggest Room and Board (Modern Furniture - Room & Board) in Atlanta or Denver. Beautiful furniture; I own several pieces. They'll transport it via truck for a very reasonable delivery fee ($229 for a whole house full of stuff!) and he'd avoid sales tax....that could make the trip worth the cost!

I assume you've already contacted the retailer and/or manufacturer for help? I seem to recall an episode on HGTV maybe where someone got that kind of repair done at an auto repair place? You know, a shop where they repair leather car interiors?

Alternatively, I would try an upholstery shop and my last-ditch effort would be one of those "leather mending kits" you see on TV (or on amazon.com)

Good luck!
