Hi, I was just offered a job in Houston in the aldine area near I-45 and the Sam Houston tollway and I need some help finding a place to live. I would be living alone for maybe six months while my wife gets her affairs in order and looks for a new job in the area, so I am looking at a furnished apt to live in until I can get her moved down here. When she comes to Houston I would like to look for a house or something similar to move to with all our furniture. As I'm going to have to pay rent in both in S.A. and Houston until she gets here I'm looking to spend no more than 600 dollars for a 1 bedroom apt. (Is this realistic?) If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

600 for a furnished place is not realistic anywhere in Houston. id say youd have a hard time finding a furnished apartment period. have you considered extended stay hotel?

that area isn't all that interesting or nice but there is a plethora of generic apartments. there are some suburbs in the area that may have apartments within them if you are trying to get a feel for a neighborhood or house hunting. its not an expensive area but look for non "name brand" apartments and older complexes. you could probably find something.

Furnished apartments are usually for corporate relocation and run around $1600 a month. Extended Stay hotel your better bet as testmo stated. That is not the best area you would want to look farther north up I-45 or over in Humble area.

Go to craigslist and buy some minimal cheap furniture then sell it through the same method when ready to move. You can get a bed, table, couch and chair pretty cheap. The you can find an apartment for $600

Thanks for the info, confirmed what I thought about the area. I've been looking into apts or housing in Spring, tx or the woodlands and just commuting down I-45 or the toll road to work.
