Hi moving to the area in October, just looking for a house. We fell in love with Friendswood. Being from the midwest, I wanted to find out if there are any negatives (other than the flooding potential/hurricane zone) which we should be aware of. It seems like all the schools are well rated.

We like the West Ranch development - anyone live there or have comments about it?

We live right next to Friendswood. The schools in Friendswood are superior. There are no negatives. The part of Friendswood closest to the mall has some spotty pockets, but there really is no 'bad' part of town. There is a larger percentage of high income people in Friendswood. We don't worry about hurricanes until one is in the Gulf, but then again we are used to it. Friendswood is a good ways inland, so it would take a whopper to flood you. West Ranch is really nice without a lot of traffic, but there is still new development going up around it. If you like small town life with low crime and good schools, then this is about as close as you can get in the Houston area.

I live in Friendswood. It's a very nice area with a small town feel in many ways. I like it here and would raise a family here without a second thought.

I've seen lots of street flooding there and I think you're in a storm surge area there if you're close to Clear Creek. I mean, really close-- property almost backed up to the creek. Otherwise Friendswood proper is great if you like a country style suburb. There is some old oil money there (Quakers). We almost moved there but ultimately preferred Clear Lake east of Hwy 3.
