I can name a lot of other places that exist already and have great burgers. I cant' say Houston is hurting for burger places. It's totally an "I can't get it and I want it" deal.

It was the same with Steak N Shake until recently.

It's simple really.

Houstonians hear that In-N-Out is good and some people can't wait til it arrives here. The problem is they misconstrue that as, "the best, top-notch, world-class, etc." because that is what they're used to when people talk about anything they like here; boasting and exagerrating.

Most people never use the word best to describe anything. People here are quick to do that so they feel good about themselves and their city. It is intriguing and hilarious at the same time. Don't confuse yourself!
