There are two seasons in Houston: Football season and spring football season.

Honestly, Nov and December can be rainy and cold but not the cold you are thinking. 30's - 50's are the range. The rest of the year is summer, hot, hot and more hot, with two weeks of fall in mid October and one week of spring in April.

Summer starts at the end of May and runs to the beginning of October. Outside of those months, the weather is beautiful.

This has been an unusually brutal, LONG, hot & dry summer. To best honest, the humidity hasn't been all that bad. I've just noticed it the last few days.

I've been here for 3 winters & they were cold by California standards but nothing compared to a NY winter. The cold snaps are short so enjoy sweater weather for the brief time you'll get to wear sweaters. And, don't be surprised when you see people sporting winter jackets, hats & scarves when temps dip into the 60s. It's a funny sight.

By May, it'll be hot, hot, hot again. Hopefully, temps will start to ease up (for good this time!) in the next couple of weeks.

Y'all need to remember that they're from NY where 83 is hot. I grew up in Detroit, I know these things.

So that means its summer time from May till Oct and a pleasant weather for rest of the year.I would not mind the hot summers if it is for 6 months but if it stretches to 8-9 months then its difficult as we are not used to this heat.

here is Houstons average monthly temps:

Average Weather for Houston, TX - Temperature and Precipitation

the 90's are usually from Jun-Aug, so it hitting 100's for an average this late is far from normal.

The 80's and above are supposed to be from may to oct. Nov to April should be really mild temps

An average of 94 means if it rains one day and only hits 88, on another day it will hit 100.

If you pull out rainy days during the summer months, the high is usually 97-98.

That's about right.

You know how we get cranky in NY after being cooped up with the cold from Nov-March (I grew up there)? I am getting cranky with this heat.

If I remember correctly from last year, it was still pretty warm in October. We went to Dewberry Farms in early Oct and it was HOT! Halloween was still warm enough that the kids weren't wearing jackets while ToTing at night. After that, it did start to cool down to sweater weather.
