This weekend I had the opportunity to go through a house in my neighborhood that I hadn't been all the way through. Out of all the houses I have ever been in, which is a lot, this was the first I had seen with a round living room area.

Makes you wonder what other oddities are out there. I know a lot of people on here have done a lot of house shopping. What is the most unusual house you have been in?

Aspen Lodge style add-on bathroom that included astroturf flooring and a hot tub made for 8 and a swing.... I just don't want to know.

1. House in Cinco with a wet bar that only a bartender under 3.5 feet could operate. It came to my knees.

2. Whirlpool tub in the master bath that would seat ten, in Tanglewood.

2. House in Katy that had deadbolt locks on every single door - including the pantry. Gave us the willies - we just left the house ASAP.

Now that you mention it, one of my listings had what I call the keyless privacy locks, (a wing lock on one side but no key hole or anything on the other side), mounted on all the bedroom doors. You could lock them from the outside, basically locking people in the rooms. The explanation I got was there was a mother living with her daughter's family. If one or the other was not home the person there by themselves could close the doors to the vacant rooms and lock them in case someone broke in through a window, they supposedly wouldn't be able to get any further than that room.

I hate to tell them, but if someone broke into the house and once inside, getting past an interior door wouldn't be much of a challenge.

The house was vacant while it was listed, but I had to tell the heirs selling the house to stop locking the doors, b/c every time they would go and check on the house they would go back and lock all the bedroom doors. Entering a dark bedroom hallway is bad enough, then coming up to closed locked doors in a vacant house, not real inviting. Um, no, you have to leave those open.

It's in Glenbrook Valley. It only has 3 bedrooms but according to the tax rolls is 4600 sq ft. There is a round fireplace in the middle of the room too. Another of the old Italian houses with a built in prayer shrine in the back of the room, which I guess is another odd feature, but I have seen so many now, I guess I am used to them.
