I can't tell you how absolutely happy it makes me to know I don't have to deal with, organize, wash and sort all the crappy winter gear this year! No more silly lost mittens or boots left on my wood floors with salt and melting ice coming off of them. No more below zero wind chills... no more below zero ACTUAL temps! I mean really, 15 degrees below zero actual temp and they expect you to be out in it!!! No more!!!! :-)

I know Houston is hot, but you just can't truly appreciate Houston weather until you've lived up north with the absolutely dreary, frigid nasty weather. Or had to shovel a long driveway with a foot of snow and more coming. The novelty wears off the first 5 minutes of having to deal with it.

Soooooooooooooo happy to be spending the rest of my winters in Houston!!!
Agree with everything you said. I have never had to deal with as much as you described. My trip to Maryland was enough though. I had never been so cold in my life, and the temperature was in the 10 or 20's at night. I have rarely seen the number 10 on the weather station, and it had to do with my location! So, that was enough for me. When my time was over there, I got back on the plan, and was happy when I had to take my leather jacket off before the plane even stopped.

I'll take the weather today also. Anyone with me? It feels great!

texasfirewheel - With all due respect, your thermometer is not accurate. The Houston area has not seen any 106 degree temperatures anytime recently. And the minimum doesn't show any minimum (typically morning) temperatures ever. You might consider getting a new thermometer.

Nice looking backyard though...

Thanks, Sunderpig. That photo was taken on June 1 of this year. I check the temperature as indicated on my thermometer against the Channel; 13 news reports and it's always been accurate within 2-3 degrees.

I think the actual temperature that day, as reported by Channel 13, was 103. My thermometer is in the sun so that may be why it shows 106.

And, according to wikipedia.com "On June 5, 2011, the temperature reached 105 in Houston, making it the highest temperature ever recorded in June." So my thermometer wasnt off by much on June 1.

Also from Wikipedia.com: The hottest temperature ever recorded in Houston was 109 °F (43 °C) on September 4, 2000[8] and tied on August 27, 2011.

Yeah, where was Sunderpig at the end of August? It was over 105 several days in a row. Brutal.

Well it's better than triple digits, but I'd rather have the 10 and 20's at night.

Okay, I guess we've had more 100+ degree days lately than I realized. But hey, I have a good excuse. With all the heat, brain damage and temperature perception failure comes easily It's a wonder that everyone's brain hasn't melted or burned at this point.

I definitely prefer the heat over the cold! I lived 9 years with snow/ice/below zero temps and really high winds and I hope to never go back to that again! I think it might be because I'm from Cali originally.

Anyway, I suppose I will fit right into Houston... at least weather-wise I should!

Besides, summer clothes are so much cuter!
