We are relocating to Houston and are looking researching Kingwood. I have heard from our realtor that he thinks it takes about an hour, but I wanted to hear from those of you that actually make the commute into Downtown, how long does it take? Best, worst and average morning commute?

Thanks for the help! You all are great!

The drive from Kingwood is one of the better options, if you want to live outside the beltway. 59 north doesn't have traffic like 45 or 290 (Yuck!). An hour sounds a little high, 45 minutes is more accurate. Where in Kingwood are you looking? Traffic up there seems to move smoother since they expanded Northpark. I assume the realtor was factoring in the time it takes to get out of Kingwood, and also the time it takes to park downtown. But yes, an hour commute from the 'burbs isn't unheard of. Have you considered park & ride?

Getting out of Kingwood is the hard part. 45 minutes to downtown.

Yes, my husband is more than willing to take the park & ride. That is why Kingwood is high on our list.....it seems like the other park and rides are not conveniently located, it would take just 20 minutes to drive to them, then you have to still ride the bus into downtown. It looks like Kingwood's park & ride wouldn't be difficult to access, then it says it's a 60 minute ride on the bus. He could work or decompress while riding the bus, sounds like it would work. Does it?

No way on an hour. 45 minutes if you live in the back, 30 minutes if you live in the front, 25 minutes if you live in Oakhurst.
