I'm in Clear Creek ISD. Does anyone know if the schools within this district is relatively comparable? I'm currently zoned to Clear Lake City Elementary and Clear Lake Intermediate. My lease is up in December so we will have the opportunity to move around if need to.
I have couple of friends whose kids go to Brookwood Elem and Space Center Intermediate. They all tell me how great the Brookwood school is and try to convince me to send my kids there b/c 'it's worth it'. I looked up in Har.com and houses there are close to $300K. The houses are nice BUT I don't really care about the house. We're very modest when it comes to living standard. However, I care about schools. The house that we live right now is zoned to Clear Lake City Elementary/Clear Lake Intermediate. Houses in this subdivision is about ~150K .
I'm wondering if anyone has experience in these schools and would be able to share thoughts. How is the gap in quality of education between these schools within the same district? I'm trying to determine whether the differences within these schools worth the $150K.
We can afford both of these options. I can't decide whether the differences b/t the schools worth putting up that extra amount of money or to save the extra money would be better.

Thoughts??

I kinda think that is splitting hairs. There are a few exceptions with the elementary schools, but you aren't hitting them with your choices. Think of it this way - every high school in Clear Lake and League City has a good academic reputation. Especially Clear Lake High (very high percentage of national merit scholars). But I'm pretty sure even the top grads of Clear Creek high get snatched up by schools better than UT or ATM. And a lot of these kids have to be products of CCISD elementary schools. Maybe you should save the money for college because if your kid graduates at the top of his/her class in CCISD, you are gonna need it

Agreed - the difference between those schools is miniscule, and is not worth the extra house payments if you're happy where you currently are. Also, if you are zoned to Clear Lake City Elementary and Clear Lake Intermediate, then your kids will end up going to Clear Lake High School, the same school as the Brookwood/Space Center kids.
