Ill have to start making this drive every morning next month and was curious on the length of time it would take. I wont have to be at work till 7:30am now that they accepted my shift change. Everybody ive asked seems to say if i leave by 6:30/6:45am..ill make it with no traffic (20-30 mins)...but if i make it @ 7am..ill be stuck for close to an hour..

So im thinking of leaving @ 6:30am and just get to work 20/30 mins early?

I'm one of those people who absolutely hate traffic..with a passion. I can not sit in it without getting extremely frustrated and stressed out.

i would say that's pretty good estimations. traffic starts to back up just inside the beltway. if you're ever running late, you could always go down 1960 to the hardy toll and take that into downtown instead....my wife takes the hardy from riley fuzzell into downtown, she leaves the house just before 7am and gets into downtown 7:30....door to door is about 45-50 minutes from our house.

It's going to be trouble because for SOME odd reason right between Little York to Tidwell people just start slowing down. Not that many people exit or get on right there. It's especially bad right at Parker Rd.

I've always wondered if people stop to stare at Gallery Furniture as if they haven't seen it before. The same on 45 right by the Aquarium, that's a huge just STOP mark. I'm like WTF are people stopping for.

Leave an hour early and you'll be fine.

From 1960 I take the Beltway then either I-10 or Westpark to Downtown. That may be out of the way for some but for my piece of mind from 249 to I-10 I can make that in 15 minutes the way I drive (safe mind you, lol) but people remember their paying $1+ on the Beltway so there's not BS'ing it getting to work.

45/1960 area all the way around to beltway/i-10 ? ? ? just to get into downtown? that's crazy talk. it's easier to take the hardy toll rd.

Yep. I can't deal with 45 if I'm on a schedule. Any time before or after work traffic I can deal but 45 drivers just don't care. I've never seen people go slower. Well 290 gives it a run. I'm closer to 249/1960 anyway so it's easier and quicker to go that way than take 1960 to 45.

The Beltway is a long way around but it really moves! I'm so serious. It slows at the tolls of course right before you get to them but after people pass people are booking it and it's fabulous

When the stall ends on 45 people STILL keep going 30-40mph.

have you considered taking Hardy toll into downtown ? seriously, hardy toll is constantly moving at 75-80, even 90 i'm assuming by the way they've passed me up before... going this route will prolly save you gas, mileage, and it's the same amount of tolls (2 x $1.50)

My dad takes the Hardy to downtown and he's been telling me that but I'm so use to 249/Beltway it's an etched routine.

wait, are you coming from 249/1960 or 45/1960? because i would agree with your route if you're coming from 249.....but coming from 45/1960, it's wiser to take the hardy....

249/1960.

My dad goes 45/1960 because he doesn't like the outside around way I go.

Have you considered using the Park and Ride system? You can get on at the Kuyukendahl Park and Ride and take the bus to downtown (using the HOV lane).

The buses from the Park and Ride are nice.
