I used to work for the largest insurer of vehicles in Texas about 10 years ago and one of our stats was something like 1 out of every 6 drivers in Texas is uninsured. Not sure what the number is now, but having this coverage is a pretty darn good idea.

I also know someone who is upper middle class (drives a Mercedes), very legal, who moved here to Texas from California years ago, never bothered transferring her license and now drives without a license since the CA one has long expired. It boggles my mind that she doesn't have a driver's license after living here for more than 5 years because she claims she's too busy to go take the test. If she had just transferred it when she'd come here, it would have been a one day affair at the DMV, no test needed. If she ever tries to get a job again (she's a stay at home mom), wow -- since so many jobs require seeing a license now. But just anecdotal evidence that not everyone without a license is poor, illegal, etc.

You'd probably have a longer life span in an active war zone with no weapon.

They gain employment with forged documents, or none at all, it's just a preference for a sanctuary city. Without proper documentation, it is impossible to make someone accountable.... more later.

All people have to do is simply leave the scene, and if they can get away for 24 hours, they will most likely be free if they are from Mexico as they can make it to the border in less than 24 hours.

I was rear-ended about seven years ago on the way to work on I10. The guy's car was totaled, there were four people in the car. The police came, took down reports and were about to take the driver to jail because he claimed he had no ID, no insurance, nothing. He could not provide a telephone number, nor an address! Unvelieveable. Trust me, these people know their rights better than we do.
I define sanctuary city as their "rights" are more important than my rights.
