I'm thinking of taking the whole family to it on the weekend after Thanksgiving. That's 9 adults, 5 grandkids and 2 great-grandkids.

Has anybody been to it? Is it worth the money and the trip? Anything special to look out for or any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

if u like medieval stuff it might be but if you aren't really into that kind of thing -- then probably not as it's a pricey outing to see people dressed in armor and wenches but again it depends a lot on what you enjoy --

I don't care all that much for it, but my wife, kids and grandkids do.

Then they might enjoy it -- why don't you search for it on you tube - I bet you could find some videos to get a quick peek.

It is pricey so look for coupons. Our family enjoys it but we only go every 2-3 years so it doesn't get boring. The kids love it. Let them dress up in medieval outfits or like fairies. They will fit in with the actors and play it up. Catch the jousting and the creepy masked guy who plays this strange contraption of bells. Very good. Eat a turkey leg and the frozen iced stuff in a coconut shell. In addition to the entry fee, plan additional spending on food, rides and assorted crafty stuff in the shops.

I love it but only go about every 2 or 3 years. I believe it is Randalls that has discount coupons. Be sure and catch Dead Bob (the kids will love him, too).

It's good family fun for the most part. Just remember that if the performer says the show isn't for kids, RUN AWAY. The adult shows are awesome good fun for us, but don't sit back and think the jokes will fly over your kids' heads.

We usually go see Sound and Fury, and before they start the show, they always say, "Hey, this show isn't for kids. I'm telling you, if you have kids, you need to leave." Inevitably, someone with kids doesn't leave. Then, the performers start yelling "PENIS!" and other obscene things until the parents are forced to retreat.

You should definitely check it out at least once.
The family will probably get a kick out of it.

Used to go all the time growing up. It's definitely ''family fun'' but some prudish people might find a few things inappropriate. Like the standup/jokes mentioned above, the guy stroking his bone at the turkey leg stand, the guy who offers you a sample of hot nuts, a little bare ass in chainmail, etc. Watch out for tons of people smoking cigarettes, when beer buzzed they tend to burn people around them because it gets crowded.

Anyway traffic going there through Magnolia is horrendous nowadays. Use an alternate route.

I would suggest leaving an hour before closing, last time we went we stayed until the final fireworks and the gridlock had us sitting in the parking lot for a good hour.
