Inspired by the "Things to do in Houston" thread, I was wondering what are some of the best Chinese restaurant in Houston, not including cheapo cafes and buffets that have tacos, pizza and nasty "sushi". I love this place in Pasadena called Flaming Wok, but want to try something a little better. I love orange chicken, sweet n' sour and General's chicken. Ironically, the best Orange chicken I've ever had was at Cheesecake Factory! What are some suggestions?

Oh yeah, I used to eat their pork dumplings by the bucket. Cool lady that owns the place, too. I remember seeing her on the news one day.

Kam's was always good down in the Montrose.

I like all of James Huang's Hunan restaurants.

We've got a great place we go to weekly here in Cypress, the Hunan River Bistro on Louetta in front of Longwood. Very good, as good as anything we had when we lived in Midtown.

Try a P.F. Chang's (several places around town) or Fu's Garden (in Rice Village) as well. These places, along with Mr. Football's recommendation on HRB (extremely surprisingly good for being located in the burbs), are amongst the best Chinese restaurants I have ever dined at anywhere in the U.S. I feel that these are all fairly excellent and better than your average neighborhood Chinese restaurant.

North China on Kingsride (best Sizzling Rice soup)
China View on I-10 and Wilcrest (best buffet EVER! Not like ordinary Chinese buffet at all-- "gourmet" and delicious)
Shanghai River on Westheimer (best cashew chicken)
Mencius Hunan on Kingwood Dr. (best shrimp toast)
Oriental Gardens on Kingwood Dr. (best all-around dishes--hard to go wrong)
Fu's Garden in Rice Village (best won-ton soup--delicious!!)
