This thread cracks me up, but as I live in the same neighborhood as the O.P., I do know what he is talking about. No we are not afraid of the wind because our houses are thin, but the wind has definitely been crazy at times. Try convincing a 5 yr. old that the weird, spooky sounds he hears at night is nothing but the wind...not a ghost. I have quit worrying about my hair, if my car is clean or trying to keep my windows clean...as with the wind & dust, it's messed up 5 minutes later.

So our son isn't the only one lol

This normal weather for us here in West Texas and it scares the dickens out of our son! We got one real bad at night last week and he thought for sure it was a Tornado

Anyhow, high winds are typical across Texas but do you guys typically get dust storms? I'm just wondering if it's due to the droughts an wildfires burning up everything that was holding the dirt down?

I wouldn't say we get a lot of dust storms. In our particular neighborhood there is so much construction (new homes being built, new neighborhoods being developed, ect.) that there is so much dust being kicked up and the wind is pretty strong, so dust is everywhere. I would think once the construction is done, we won't have as much dust being kicked around. The wind though, I just don't remember it being this windy.....not complaining though, a nice wind means instant cool down in the middle of summer. Just don't like having this ghost coversations on a regular basis when the kids should have already been in bed!
