Another thing that annoys me is when people just bash SPRAWL. People, everybody doesn't want live in the city. Majority of large cities have alot of crime, homeless people, drugs, and bad education. If people want to live in SPRAWLVILLE, let them. You guys, Houston is not going to stop growing anytime soon, especially since it's always tops lists that appeal to relocatees. Also, many of you who hate SPRAWLVILLE actually live in SPRAWLVILLE. Look on the bright side, when places SPRAWL, alot of things become more convenient: groceries, medical facilities, churches, schools, restaurants, etc. We all know SPRAWLVILLE is the epicenter of traffic, but in a large metro area like Houston and even in a small metro like Tuscaloosa, traffic is just going to be a concern. Just live, love, and laugh LIFE!

What's going to happen is that the "sprawl" may be for people who commute to suburban employment centers - but people working in Downtown will have to live close-in

Some Archeologists now beleive it was urban sprawl that led to the demise of Angkor Wat.
History. Repeating.

Excellent post. This is one of the few intelligent things I have read on here. You can already see the evidence by looking at the demise of downtown areas and town centers.

I have to apologize.....N. Olikee had one too many that night when she asked / posed a seemingly Big Question.

It's interesting to read. Are people assuming that all people who live "way out," are working in a Downtown or City Center? And, they have to make that commute?

What I see is some people who have to do so, but so much more these days, others are living where their jobs are and are locating there. AND, the "burbs" are supplying these folks with restaurants, shops, etc. so......they don't HAVE TO go to Austin...ever.

There are areas within "urban" parts which don't have social problems, and then the older suburbs gain these problems when the demographics change

I think the best thing to do is to promote infill (Having the North Forest, Hiram Clarke, and Sunnyside areas developed)
