I'm from Victoria and moved to LA but plan to move to Houston. I find the people out here just as nice and friendly. Sometimes, I think it comes down to ones attitude sometimes. Will people think I'm another californian invading texas, when really I'm a native south Texan when I drive back to the area? Lol

just don't go "UGH you people and how you live. I remember going surfing and skiing all in the same day"
etc etc

sentiments expressed in this thread are due to people in the past making unfair comparisons between to different climates and general differences that should be known and explored before moving to a different state. for example it doesn't snow here and there are no mountains in Houston. this came to a shock to some transplants and they were quite upset about it

Low cost of living, low cost of living, and low cost of living mainly.

Job opportunities. Laid back life, family-oriented, friendly people and of course Houston has the diversity similar to CA.

Ok. I was just wondering because Californians seem a little bougie; it seems that Texas isn't their speed.

How long will that last?

Californians believe in Big Government and Social hand out programs etc while Texas is more Conservative and into smaller Goveronment. I've heard Californians out here stating they don't wish to change Texas and turn around stating they still vote for the somethings they voted for back in California...like that did California any good? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. People moving to Texas due to cheaper living can't expect things to remain linear here voting as if their still back in California.
