Regarding closing the lid...

So you open it, the lid, and its there and jumps out at you...don't know what is worse, "jack-n- the-box fright" or just seeing the rat in the toilet....

I have a friend that had this happen with a squirrel. The lid was down, and when she opened, there was a wet squirrel in the toilet. It jumped out and was running around the bathroom. Happened on either Thanksgiving or Christmas (can't remember which) while she had a house full of company. Hysterics to say the least! She spoke to a plumber and he told her they can come down through the roof vents.

Now I'm paranoid. Just shut the lid to my toilet.

First night in our new house, up late painting. Went to garage for more paint, huge rat came running at me, I walked in garage, told him to go the other way, told him thank you when he did, grabbed my paint & went back inside. Hubby asked who I was talking to & why was I laughing, told him about the rat...he shook his head & said "only you". Shrug. Snakes bug me, rats don't. He has also caught me sitting in the yard playing w mice.

I woke up around 2:30 a.m. with a bit of a cough. I went to the kitchen to spray my throat with Chloraseptic. Having to use the restroom, I turned on the light. I saw water all over the place and heard a thud. There was a rather large rat in the corner.

Me being the manly man that I am, I promptly ran out screaming, shut the door and blocked the bottom of the door with Mexican coke crates.

After doing a little research, I found out that although rare, this does happen. And the larger the rat, the more likely it will escape (generally, a normal sized rat will drown in the toilet as it cannot get out).

Anyone else experienced the toilet rat before? I honestly would have laughed had someone told me this was possible before this morning.

hahhaha had a good laugh with you being a manly man and running..haha I didn't know it was true though..I hope that doesn't happen to me because before i can run and scream like a girl..i would most likely faint on the spot...

So much for wandering around in the dark. I will always turn on the light at 3 AM and will forever put the lid down.

Can y'all figure out how the bat got into my bathtub. Looked like it was trying to get down the drain. The exterminator said it was just one of those crazy things. No big deal.

I just don't want to ever go into the bathroom and find a stray animal.
