If anyone has used Dr Steven Slade for LASIK, please post your experience and any comments you may have.

I am looking at getting LASIK done and he is on the top of my list.

Thanks

I used him. He works with Dr. Baker who does much of the non-surgical pre-op and post-op exams while Dr. Slade does the surgery and will examine before and after. They are an elite level provider on par with Berkeley or Mann, expensive but worth it. The cheap laser mills never met an eye they wouldn't zap but the best providers are the ones that do thorough screening and don't hesitate to recommend against the procedure. Almost all the laser horror stories you hear out there can be traced to either lax screening where the person wasn't a good candidate in the first place, or lax post-op care that causes infection or torn corneal flaps.

Anyway I had it done in 2003 for both eyes, using custom laser and Intralase (cuts the flap with laser rather than blade). From blind as a bat to 20-20 in left and 20-25 in right. Over time the left regressed to about 20-40 and a year ago I had an enhancement to bring the left to 20-20. They actually recommended against it because at my age I would need reading glasses if corrected and my left was allowing me to avoid that. Some people do well to have one eye for distance and one eye for closeup but I could never adjust for the difference and it drove me nuts.
