Finally, some movement. TxDOT seeks traffic relief at I-10, Texas 99 | Ultimate Katy (http://www.ultimatekaty.com/2009/11/txdot-seeks-traffic-relief-i-10-texas-99 - broken link)

I never understood why they did not connect these freeways to begin with, it has created such a mess, but alas, they may start something next year, keep your fingers crossed.

Interestingly, the I10/99 interchange will look similar to the one on I10/Beltway 8, so people traveling through Houston will see big city infrastructure earlier, it will make Houston seem larger.

I don't use this intersection, but I pass by and empathize with all of those/you who are waiting in those long lines. Improvement may be on the way.

Good to know...I always feel sorry (kind of) for all those folks backed up on the frontage roads in the afternoon/evenings.

It's about time.

The reason why they didn't do it earlier is, for one, not enough money back then. Also, they weren't that many people living this way. I don't think all the ramps will be completed though. Haven't read the article, but the flyover from I-10W to 99S and 99N to I-10E, and 99S to I-10E will probably be priority. Once they extend the Grand Parkway to 290, they'll probably complete all other ramps.

Default Hmmm....

I'd hope they get the flyover of 99 over I10 complete at the same time, that would also save people time.

Actually, if you read the article - relief is not necessarily coming. An amendment to the regional transportion plan is being proposed to allow this. However as of Oct 30, the HGAC transportion group said that it had not received any comments from the public or businesses. I would imagine, that if they don't get enough support, the plan will not change. You have until November 25 to be heard

Unfortunately, they may never build 99 from 10 to 290. Environmental concerns seem to be impassable at this point.

And I say unfortunately, as far west Houston really needs a high-speed connection between 10 & 290.

Who knows. I agree 99 needs to be extended to 290, but 290 itself is in far greater need of attention. I do have concerns that 99 will be extended later than sooner. Environmentally, I can't see what is blocking the county and TXDOT to do something similar to how Addicks and Barker are setup south and north of I10. It doesn't need to be on the same size and scale but it could solve many flooding issues and create green space.

And the road is not going to have feeders. It's going to be similar to the Cinco Ranch section of it. I've never heard about it not being built. Maybe a small delay or something. That community "Bridgeland" needs the GP.

More than likely up to FM 529.
