Hi , we're relocating to Houston area from Chicago . My husband is working in Conroe area and also commuting into downtown area ( The Galleria area ) . We are staying in apartment around The Galleria right now , but looking for a house in a good neighbourhood . Any suggestion ?? We also have a 7 years old boy , so i am really looking for a good neighbourhood with a great school .

So far , our realtor took us to Katy area ( Cinco Ranch ) and also Cypress ( Bridgeland ). Any other suggestion good area , safe and great school ?

Thank you !

Conroe to Katy during traffic is 2hrs+ bad idea to live there you need to look at areas between 249 & 1960

Where is he working more, Conroe or the Galleria? There's not alot of good in between neighborhoods (Garden Oaks/ Oak Forest being an exception, but after elementary school its pretty much private if you want to continue living there)

If he's working majority in Conroe, I'd suggest Klein (off of Louetta or Spring Cypress).

If he's working majority in the Galleria, I'd suggest Katy or Sugarland (Memorial area if your budget is $400k+).

Your realtor suggested Katy or Bridgeland for commutes to Conroe and Galleria? Unless I'm missing something, you should get a new realtor.
You need to tell us what your budget and wishes are for the house and where your husband work most of the time. Do you want public or private school?

Budget would be good. If you can afford NOT TO COMMUTE, why would you?

Takes me 90 minutes to get past Conroe on a Friday at 4pm from the Galleria

Somewhere in the middle would be Cypress with easy access to I-10. But I personally never invest in Bridgeland...it feels like a neighborhood where zombies could live with 10 more years of bad economy

Cross Katy out and look into The Woodlands and Spring. Either of those 2 will give much better commutes. But regardless, the trip to the Galleria won't be short. How often will that drive be?

For school zoning, use the locator tools to determine where you will be zoned to:
* Houston ISD: School Zone Search Tool
* Compare zoned schools: HAR.com: Houston school information and finder - Search for schools, ranking & compare public schools
** Includes SAT and ACT scores for high schools, if you are interested in college prep
* For other districts, ask and I will post links to the tools for those districts

Woodland Heights for middle and high is zoned to Hogg Middle and Reagan High - I knew some kids from the Heights, but they all went to Hamilton (for Vanguard) instead of Hogg.
