Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Direct flight (2 1/2 hrs) from Houston to Steamboat and you're pretty much guaranteed to see more snow than you want to. We've been numerous times (Spring Break and Christmas) and have never not had it snow. Last Christmas it snowed heavily for 4 days straight and was -26 degrees on the mountain. Great skiing, great snowboarding, very laid back, and we loved the little town.

Houston needs a man made mountain ski resort or a indoor one?

Ruidoso has great views on the way to Ski Apache. It's breath taking.

Listen to this. Direct flight from Houston to Hayden/Yampa Valley Regional Airport. 20 min. shuttle ride to Steamboat Springs, CO. Best snow in Colorado.

I've worked at Keystone Resort, and I've worked for Steamboat Ski Resort the past 3 years.

There are numerous artificial ski slopes in the United States. Many have been planned in the DFW area, but none have come to fruition yet.

Edit: Oh and it's ski, not skii.
