Neighbors,
I am officially slated to move in to my new memorial apt on December 29th, currently my motorcycle, car and driver's license are all from the State of Pennsylvania. How much time do I have and how much expense to change registrations over? Obviously I want to be legal, but I may not remain more than a year in Houston and would welcome any input.

90 days. Go stand in line at the DMV. Bring your driver's license, proof of TX Liability insurance on all vehicles, pack a lunch and bring a checkbook with checks from a local bank.

If you are only going to be here a year and have a permanent address in PA, you can get away with keeping your license and registration there. Better get whatever inspection stickers are required in PA before you leave though.

If stopped, just tell the officer you are only here temporarily and your permanent residence is in PA. It's not technically the legal way to go, but I've seen a lot of people (like students) do it here... sometimes for three or four years.
