See, i found the complete opposite.
The cold was so painful up north, no matter how much you wore (within reason). And having to carry all that crap with you indoors, like going to the mall or movies. And then coming out to find your car iced over and waiting for it to heat up.
But here, EVERYPLACE is airconditioned out the wazoo, to the point that we carry sweaters with us in the car to take to the movies and restaurants. If you are just going door to door, the outside temps aren't that bad and the car cools off quick enough. If you like outdoor activities you can do them pretty much year round. And then there are always pools, sprinklers and other water activities for cooling off outdoors.

The heat is oppressive here but only a little.
The heat, depending on weather patterns can start in late April to early May and will last until late August or September. The temperatures will be in the 90s but in the peak of summer the humidity will produce "feels like" temperatures of 105-115. In the beginning, when you come here you will think it's unbelievably hot but you will eventually get used to it.

There is one simple rule to remember: The Air conditioner is your friend!

When I'd lived there my entire life, I was happy at 100 and 100% humidity and didn't sweat. I FROZE with the a/c at 70! I even paid a fortune to have my a/c fixed when it broke on Thanksgiving day since the family was coming. So....everyone's idea of HOT differs.

Now, I've acclimated to VT and shovel snow in shorts & sweatshirt at zero. If you're happy where you are, the weather is the least of your concerns.

That's EXACTLY how I feel. I hate the cold and I hate having to have 5 layers on top of my undershirt just to stay not as cold (never warm) for the few minutes I'll be outside.
"You can always put more clothes on but you can't take more off" doesn't make sense. You'll be cold in 0 degree weather no matter what you have on, and if you are, you probably wouldn't be able to run if you needed to.
