I would be interested in knowing the results too. We are considering firethorne and Perry as a builder. Would be interested in the experience.

Love our Highland home in Firethorne. I can't speak to quality as we have had it only a year but they have been very good about fixing anything that went wrong. I prefer the look of the Highland homes to Perry and their use of space...Perry homes seem to have a lot of frivolous spaces (art niches, wine closets) that weren't a good fit with our style. I don't know that this helps as for me it came down to which style I liked best. As for Coventry, I don't like anything about them...again, personal opinion.

I was in this industry for decades, and did business with all three, so I have no customer bias. My thoughts:

First, they are all good builders. Solid rep, well-established, pay their bills even in the bad times (more important than you might think), and build a nice home. I wouldn't worry about Coventry's BBB feedback, their parent company builds more homes in Houston than the other two combined, so it's inevitable they'll have more complaints. And Highlands is the newest on the scene, so they'll have the least.

Perry: Good builder, tends to be more traditional and staid than the others. Less flexible. Older floor plans. Less receptive to new materials and ideas. That's not always a bad thing, but change is not bad per se, and they were always the last to accept it.

Coventry: Very good builder, nice home, well-designed. They have a rep in the industry of paying more to their vendors, to get better materials and better service.

Highlands: Newest of the three (to Houston), but a rapidly growing well-regarded company. Probably more oriented toward growth than using the best products, but that doesn't mean they don't use quality material. They do. Nice house designs.

Rankings (IMHO):

Design: Highlands, Coventry, Perry
Quality of Build/Material/Subs: Coventry, Perry, Highlands
If I was buying: Coventry, Highlands, Perry

HTH!
