Hi, I apologize if this is covered in another thread. I looked everwhere but most discussions were either dated or had digressed in to a bickering session. I have been offered a job in Sugarland by the 59 and my wife is flying out this weekend to look at rentals. Where should we rent a house? Why or why not? We would like to pay 1200 have kids and have less than 15 min commute. Thank you.in advance for your input and I will post where we end up living in a month.

Lol, touche! ~We apologize.

If you work in sugarland, and esp on 59, you have your share of nice neighborhoods to live in with a reasonable commmute. The rent is what will limit your selection because some of the nicest neighborhoods are more expensive or dont' have much rental. Try har.com Click on "Find a Home" Click on Map Search. Draw a polygon around where your work is and put in criteria you want like rent max, #bdrms etc and it'll give you an idea. Make sure you click on LEASE in the criteria search. Look in Richmond too. Are you working with a good realtor from that area? It'll be a good idea.

Thank you very much for the reply. Har.com is a great site! We are getting in touch with a realtor to show us properties this weekend. Can you offer any advice on Richmond or Missouri City?

I don't live in that area so can't help much, but hopefully someone will chime in. Try messaging AK123, Topaz, Sampaguita and others you see in SL/Richmond/Missouri threads. THey live in that area. Good luck

Both are mostly good in the areas that border directly up against Sugar Land. Richmond more so has a good selection of master-planned communities with great schools, compared to MoCity IMO.

Once you have a better idea of homes to choose from in mind, you can run the names of the neighborhoods by us on here and that will help narrow it down. If work is in Sugar Land, I'd say start with central Sugar Land and then work your way out.

I don't think you will like what you can get for $1200/mo. The market rate is more like $1600/mo+.

Two good areas to search are New Territory and Greatwood - zip code is 77479. First Colony is more expensive because it is centrally located.
