Hey everyone!
Here's the deal:
I grew up in the Houston area, but I have only lived here as an adult for the last 18 months.

In a few weeks, we have the 10-year anniversary of our first date! It's probably a dorky thing to celebrate, but I think it'd be fun to surprise him (my hubs) with a special date.

He's still pretty new to Houston, having only been here these 18 months. I'm still trying to show him the fun-adult side of this place. Last year, we took my dad's recommendation and went to the Rainbow Lodge - where the food was amazing, service was impeccable, and the place itself was very romantic.

I'd definitely have no problem going back to Rainbow Lodge, but before I call for a reservation, I was wondering if any of you might have another cool place for us to try.

Essentials:
1. He's a confirmed carnivore. Chicken or seafood won't suffice - this man likes a perfectly cooked chunk of beef.
2. I'd really love for it to have somewhat of a romantic setting. It's hard to linger over a nice glass of wine when you're smack in the middle of a crowded dining room.

I don't care what part of town it's in, as long as it's tasty. Looking forward to hearing your suggestions!

You could check out RDG+Bar Annie. My wife and I recently went there for a little celebration of our own. Pricey, and a bit snobby (it's in the Galleria, involves valet parking, dressed up etc etc) but the food is quite good. There's an nice in-house bar that serves all sorts of wine and mixed drinks if you're into alcoholic drinks. Neither of us are so no comment there.

As an aside, shouldn't he be doing the planning?

Skip RDG Bar Annie; it isn't that good at all. Instead, go with Fogo De Chao. Since he is a carnivore he will love it. Check out thier website. It is a nice place and different way of eating since they bring you all of the meats on skewers. You two will NOT be dissapointed.

Houston's on Kirby @59 is really nice.

That was our go-to anniversary restaurant when we were in Houston.

Fogo De Chao is good, but the opposite of romantic. A good choice for another occasion perhaps. Try Trulucks in the Galleria area, pricy but it's the right setting with great steaks and seafood.

Brenner's. Thick ribeye with a glob of truffle butter melting on it. Chocolate Mousse cake for desert.

Not that that's one of my favorite meals in the city or anything....

This is the one on the westside of town, not Brenner's on the Bayou. To me the two places are distinctly different.
