Hey, you guys. I take classes with this Nigerian boy from Houston, and I asked him how was it. He said it is beautiful. He said there are alot of different people down there. Also, he told me that it is a real big city, but he is sort of tired of it because he's been there for almost all of his life. He has a slight southern accent mixed in with his Nigerian accent which is funny. LOL!

No. He's an Americanized Nigerian who thinks Houston is beautiful. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

BTW, i just saw the t-shirt. Didn't even notice that before. I didn't mean to make a joke of that. It was the background I was looking at. Apologies in advance.

Of course what's on the shirt is no laughing matter, but the immense poverty in the background is hilarious.

I have been living in Houston for close to 2 months now and can't understand why people call it ugly. Frankly, I don't see it. Yes I have seen places in the city (and suburbs for that matter), that are ugly/unattractive-but so what, every city has this.

I came to Houston to start a new life. I had many choices of where I could live. I chose Houston. After careful research and a two-week trip I decided this was the city for me.

I live in the Medical Center about a mile from where I work in a hospital as an RN. I make far more money here than in the Miami, Florida area. I live in a pretty nice apartment. When I open my door I see the Medical Center Skyline and I say WOW! It is a very short walk to the Smithlands train station should I want to use the train. I drive a car but the train comes in handy when going to downtown( due to parking issues). There are many apartments in this area, as well as single family homes. I don't consider this to be an ugly area. I consider it to be a vibrant, industrious, attractive area.

In my opinion, for whatever it's worth, I find Hermann Park, the Museum District, and Downtown itself to be attractive as well. I have also been to the eastern part of town where I found decent neighborhoods not far from the oil refinaries people like to put down.

I am saving money to buy a house. I don't want to be a renter forever and want my own place somewhere in the suburbs.

For those that don't want to live here-fine that's more space and opportunities for the rest of us.

Houston's beauty isn't subjective by any means. It is a beautiful city that is very, very vibrant. There is vibrancy even in the suburbs.

What exactly do you mean by vibrant?
