I just got a job working in greenspoint, as the title of the thread suggests. I'm now looking for an apartment to rent, but I don't have a great sense of my options.

I'd be comfortable with a 30 minute commute or less, but I suppose I could stretch that if it was worth it. The only area somewhat convenient to greenspoint I know anything about is the Woodlands, as my parents live there now. So what sorts of areas should I be looking at for a 30 minute or less commute and apartments in the $800-$1200 price range for a one bedroom?

I'm open to pretty much any advice on the subject...I'm just not familiar with almost all of Houston.

I would either go out to the Woodlands or come in and live somewhere in the city.

Away from Greenspoint. That's all I've got to say about that.

But if you are singe, live inside the 610 loop.

Working in Greenspoint, where to rent?

As far away from work as possible.

Since your parents live in the Woodlands I look there first then down 1960. 1960 going towards 249. Cypresswood, Champions, Jones Rd, Grant Rd area ish etc. Even Tomball.

As previous suggested, try not to live in Gunspoint - I MEAN Greenspoint! It's bad out there.

Maybe North East of the Airport?

There are a few good apartments near FM1960 willowbrook mall. 11 miles to greenspoint. Every store/resturant within 1-2 miles.

The Greenspoint area is not the best place to rent. You have several options Willowbrook Mall area, Beltway 8 and 290 area or even 249.

As someone who has left 1960...be very choosy .

IMO 1960 is gradually going downhill.

It depends on the end. 1960 around 249 is still nice. The closer you get to 249 the nicer it gets/still is. 1960 going toward 45 is a trainwreck and growing. The closer you get to 45 the trashier it gets.

Thanks for all the replies so far. Been looking through everything mentioned. Sure can be a bit overwhelming at times.

While I'm still considering most anything, I've given a bit more thought to living inside the loop. One point of concern for me is how traffic might work out. Based on where I'd be looking if I went inside the loop, I'd think I would take the 59 either to the 45 and up, or to the 610 and then the hardy, then back the other way in the evening. I have no clue what the traffic might be for that kind of drive. Anyone have any thoughts?
