Pretty much the case in Midtown. Post-Vietnam War, the Vietnamese immigrants made Midtown their "Little Saigon." When I first visited Houston about 10 years ago, my parents took me to Midtown first to eat which had a sizable Vietnamese population with many of the street signs even in Vietnamese. Nowadays, it seems like only a quarter of businesses exist today compared to a decade ago and the Vietnamese street signs don't exist anymore it seems. Its quite evident with some buildings still in Vietnamese but are completely vacant. I can only imagine how big it was back in the 80s and early 90s before it shifted to Bellaire Blvd (My parents would probably know as they lived in Houston during the 80s). There are still some popular restaurants such as Mai's and Les Girvals but still nowhere near the scale of Bellaire Blvd. in Sharpstown and Alief. There is no doubt that Midtown's gentrification played a role in shifting the Asian businesses out to the suburbs. Its nice to see Midtown getting new development and a nice facelift these days but sad at the same time seeing Asian businesses being priced out and relocating elsewhere.

Some public schools within the inner city have a significant number of Asian students (10%) or higher.

Elementary schools within the 610 Loop that do:
* Roberts Elementary (32.5%) - Roberts Elementary School, Houston TX School Profile, Ranking, and Reviews - SchoolDigger.com
* River Oaks Elementary School (18.4%) - River Oaks Elementary School, Houston TX School Profile, Ranking, and Reviews - SchoolDigger.com
* Horn Elementary School (18.4%) - Horn Elementary School, Bellaire TX School Profile, Ranking, and Reviews - SchoolDigger.com
* Twain Elementary (17.7%) - Twain Elementary School, Houston TX School Profile, Ranking, and Reviews - SchoolDigger.com
* West University Elementary (16%) - West University Elementary School, Houston TX School Profile, Ranking, and Reviews - SchoolDigger.com

Elementary schools outside of the 610 Loop and in Houston ISD that do:
* Barbara Bush Elementary (30.6%) - http://www.schooldigger.com/go/TX/sc...08/school.aspx
* Condit Elementary (15.7%) - Condit Elementary School, Bellaire TX School Profile, Ranking, and Reviews - SchoolDigger.com

Lanier Middle School is 13.5% Asian. Some other zoned middle schools (Pershing and Pin Oak) come close to 10% (around 9%).

Bellaire High School has 16.6% Asians

Corresponding to those schools, that means within 610 the Bellaire/West U/Medical Center area has a significant number of Asian Americans. Outside of 610 and within HISD, areas with large numbers of Asians include (aside from Bellaire/West U/Med Center area) the Energy Corridor and Chinatown areas.

For magnet schools, those with 10% or more Asians:
* T. H. Rogers Secondary (40.2%) - T H Rogers Sec School, Houston TX School Profile, Ranking, and Reviews - SchoolDigger.com
* T. H. Rogers Elementary (42.8%) - T H Rogers Elementary School, Houston TX School Profile, Ranking, and Reviews - SchoolDigger.com

Somebody commented "correction, not many live in the Energy Corridor." - Keep in mind Barbara Bush Elementary and Daily Elementary are both in the Energy Corridor area, and they are neighborhood schools. I don't know how many going to Bush are transfers, though.

Even though River Oaks ES has a neighborhood program, I believe that most of the Asians going there are transfers for the Vanguard program and/or siblings of Vanguard students who are in the neighborhood program.

West University Elementary, AFAIK, has the highest percentage, and the highest percentages of whites are generally found in schools in west Houston.
