Me and my girlfriend wanted an apartment to stay in so I signed a lease on Northborough Drive (Greenspoint - 77067) because it's near my office. I've done a little research and now I'm getting a little scared - not so much for my safety - but for her safety. Is this place really one of the most dangerous places in Houston or has the area cleaned up recently? Should I try to see if I can cancel my lease? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's supposedly 'better' than it was,say,10 or 15 years ago, but there is still a pretty high number of reported incidents in the area. If you are uncomfortable, I would try to get out. I doubt it would be the first time they've heard that request. I wouldn't want to live there, but I do business with companies that office off of greens road, on occasion. I'd say it's still pretty jacked up around there. It will take a long time before its reputation improves.

I work about .5 miles from the apartment for a very reputable company. The office is extremely nice. I had no idea that the area around it would be this dangerous. If it was just me I wouldn't even care but my girlfriend is small and asian. I'm extremely worried for her safety.

There are older apartment complexes over there practically vacant for a reason because they cannot give them away. I personally would not feel safe in that area but that is just me. At the end of the day it has to do with your budget and what you can afford. It is a low income area and with that comes crime, it is sad that is that way but that is just the way it is.

There are some decent looking apartments in the area and the area is trying to clean up but whether it is I do not know.

You are on the side that is less bad, but that isn't saying much. LOL, just joking.

There is plenty of petty crime east of Greenspoint Road.
Tons of car thefts in the Cityview area of Greenspoint.
The Roughest part of "greenspoint" is the Aldine area- south of the beltway and east of Airline.
Northborough is west of 45, and not nearly as rough as the parts east

FYI Greenspoint is not nearly the most dangerous part of Houston. 15 years ago it was closer to that, but it is hard to shake off stereotypes. If you live near Imperial Road there is a great chance that your car will be broken into a coupla times then one morning you will wake up to find that some one has borrowed it without your permission, but the violent crime in that area is not as high as it was in the 1990s. The area's population has increased by 50% in the last 20 years and at the same time the violent crime rate has decreased by 50%.

I would not feel safe in that area. They don't call it "Gunspoint" for nothing. Having said that, I haven't lived in Houston area for two years now, so maybe it's better. ???

There's an apartment I was thinking about living in that's about a half mile out of the Greater Greenspoint area. I know it's only half a mile out but it's in the 77090 zip code (Houston Crime Maps | ZIP Code | 77090)- trails of dominion park. Would that area be safer or you think it's too close?

I live in Gunspoint. If you see me, I will be the white guy.............I get along fine here although I am not an accurrate representation of white people. The more Mexican parts of Gunspoint like around Colonial Hills are pretty cool. There are a lot of good taco stands and Mexican restaurants. I don't recommend getting gas here after dark or hanging around the mall too much (inn the parking lot). Althought it is a cool place, there is a bit of prostition and drug dealing going on at the Stripes at night. Other than that you should not have any problems really.

lol, you are not the only white boy there. I know at least 5 who live there Big difference

Saw one walking along the street. He was dressed in drag but had no make up and no fake boobs. just a blouse, fishnet stockings, short shorts and big fluffy boots. Was that you???

If it was, I know some people who can help teach you how to complete the ensemble. Starting with a wig, make up and foam boobies
