How is your light rail and park n ride going?

How long does it take to get to downtown -say the civil courts bldg from the southern stations?

How does park and ride work? Do you pay to park and then buy a ticket separately.

Are there any hotels, motels where people can stay near a park and ride stop?

Here is the Houston Metro web site...it is pretty informative. You can view maps and find what hotels are in the area you are interested in.

METRO - Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Houston, Texas

I used to go to school in the TMC and then worked there once I graduated. I parked for free in Downtown Houston...on a street called Winburn...which is right off of the light rail track. Hopped on the light rail and it dropped me off right in front of the TMC within 12 minutes. I know you can buy a ticket at the Light Rail stations. My employer paid for our Light Rail passes. So I would get a monthly pass to use. I really enjoyed the convenience of not having to pay high parking fees to park at the TMC or having to park way out and wait for a shuttle to pick you up and drop you off in the TMC. It was very easy peasy for me

The light rail does run all the way to One Main St. which is not a far walk to the Civil Courts Bld. Rail Schedule

Lots of good food in Houston...I miss my Texas BBQ and my TexMex!

There is some free parking in Herman Park with a three hour limit but I don't know if anyone is timing. Parking is free on downtown streets after 6 pm and all day sunday.

Park and ride works like you park outside the loop and the bus carries you into downtown.

From southern stations to downtown should be like 20 minutes, maybe a little more, never really timed it.

Parking at the bus park and rides is free.

Parking at the Fannin South station does cost. It should be generally safe.

Watchful is correct. Keep in mind the free ride is only with the jury summons notice..on the day of. On any other day the bus ride would cost depending where you are coming from.
