Good morning, two of my children attend Mirus Academy. My older son will graduate this spring; he has attended for his entire high school years. My younger son is a freshman this year and has attended the school for three years. My children have always maintained high grades; they were bored in public school and were surrounded by ill behaved students and teachers who spent more time disciplining students than teaching. We began homeschooling and quickly discovered we were better parents than we were teachers. We enrolled our oldest first in one class, the first day he came home happier than I have ever seen him. After a few weeks both my sons were enrolled and well on their way to successful school years.
Academically the school is very competitive amongst other private schools. They far surpass public schools, my youngest sons friend, who attends public school, is well behind my son and has nowhere near his in-depth understanding of concepts. The concepts at Mirus are not just taught but thoroughly examined and understood.
The students at the Mirus Academy are all academically motivated, and well behaved. They are all friends, and enjoy many get-togethers after school and during summer. All prospective students must have a trial period, and know that not all are allowed to continue to attend; I have seen many asked to leave due to behavior. This is an excellent school, small and very well organized. Mrs. Laura and Mrs. April are dedicated to the success of the children and the teachers are fantastic. The children are allowed to be themselves without any implications on their education or their classroom success.
If you have any questions, I’d be glad to answer them but do go take a tour, while the building may not be a decorators dream you can be assured your child will be safe, well educated and happy. The tuition is low comparatively speaking and well worth the investment.
Because we are on a public message board I do not want to give my personal information, if you go in for a tour I will give permission to Mrs. Laura and Mrs. April to give you my name and number. Tell them you are seeking the parent who left you a message on City Data and they will give you my number. (I know I can send a private message, I’d really prefer you get the info from the school)
Good luck and I’ll check back later to see if You have posted any questions or a reply (A private message would be better). It is an excellent school, I am a very picky parent, and very rigid with my children’s education and I have chosen for my boys to attend Mirus Academy until they graduate.
