Relocating to the Houston area and would like to hear some comments about houses in Friendswood, TX. We have not been to the area yet but have only been looking online and honestly there is not much for sale in the FISD in the price range we are looking at $350,000- $450,000. West Ranch is new construction but lots seem small in the price range we are looking at and the community pool seems way to small for the number of houses it would service. Also, husband would be commuting to Lake Jackson every day and West Ranch seem to be on the far side of Friendswood (want to keep in the FISD) so any other subdivision suggestions would be appreciated (in FISD) to cut down even just a few minutes of his drive. Thanks!

What about The Forest? May I ask why Friendswood and not Pearland? Something near 518/288 would give your husband a straight shot down 288.

That would be a long commute to Lake Jackson from that part of Friendswood. I agree - Pearland makes more sense. Although Friendswood is a great place to live.

It is about 30 minutes driving from the West Ranch area to just Alvin down 528 due to stoplights. Then from Alvin to Lake Jackson I'm guessing another 30 minutes.

Default Schools

Zeroing in on Friendswood because of schools. Pearland schools are not horrible or anything but the test scores, etc are just better in Friendswood. Lived in PA and husband commuted to NJ (45 minutes) each way, daily for 2 years so this drive would something he has done before. There just doesn't seem to be many houses to pick from in Friendswood unless it's in West Ranch. Did look at The Forrest and there are a couple I would like to view if they are still on the market.

I prefer Friendswood to Pearland as well and I grew up in Pearland but as an adult, I like Friendswood - it seems to still have more of a community feel to it vs. Pearland, particularly in the 288/518 area - that just seems like a glut of strip malls with nice housing built around it. But everyone's preference are different and while that area isn't for me, I do know several who love it in that area.

I like Pearland, but I don't like kids. So, I vote Friendswood. ( j/k )

Haha good one!

Friendswood is great, it does have a community feel, but the husband should try out the drive from West Ranch at some time. It's going to be easily over an hour one way, and it's not a straight shot 70 mph highway route. You can't hop on a freeway and set the cruise to 'on' while traveling hwy 35.

Where in PA are you moving from? We just moved to the Lehigh valley from the Pearland area.

We live in West Ranch, I agree some of the lots can be very small. I know they are building on the other side and some of the lots back up to a pond, so you would probably have a wrought iron fence so it wouldn't seem as small. I like it so far here, great schools, couldn't be happier. How old are your kids? you can message me if you have any direct questions I could help with. We moved here from Chicago last October.
