Thanks trbstang. Are there any options if the Gleason has no opening for this year?
I am so desperate to put my child into a good school.

Good news if you haven't heard already, I just got an email saying Gleason will be open for next year. You just have to fill out the form and return it to Ms Rios the registrar and hopefully you can get in. Good luck!

Gleason is an Exemplary but Frazzier is Recognized.
Gleason has less economically disadvantage students.
Gleason has equal ethnic group ratio.
I am not so sure what other factors should I check so pl help me educated.
I also would like to know if it's possible to transfer my child to the elementary that I'd prefer.
thanks.
Dear please do not get hung up on ratings. What do these ratings means? At least 90% of kids actually passed the test with a 70 or above and all subjects. It does not necessarily mean that the students are receiving a different curriculum than the recognized school. There are schools around the Houston area that are exemplary yet has a large amount of students who are economically disadvantaged. As of right now there isn't a rating system with the new state test. When the rating system was in effect many schools that were exemplary turned out to be recognized after districts were no longer allowed to play with the numbers. Your focus should be on what the school is teaching, is it a safe neighborhood, safe school environment instead of looking at ratings, racial background of the school, and how many students are poor. What you are looking for in a public school you probably would find at a private school. Since you are looking to do a transfer, I guess private school is not an option financially for you?

Any school is only as good as the teacher in your kid's classroom.
Does the school have a stable faculty? How long has the principal been there? The principal will make or break a school.
