The mosquitoes are always bad in Houston, but this year I feel like they are even worse. They have been swarming in my back yard making any kind of out door activities nearly impossible.

I've been implementing a solution for a few weeks now that seems to work very well, and is much cheaper than what my pest control company wanted to charge me to treat my yard.

Pour some of this:

Amazon.com: EcoSMART 33149 Organic Insect Killer Concentrate For Lawns and Landscapes, 32-Ounce: Patio, Lawn & Garden
Also available at Wal-Mart and Home Depot for about $10/bottle + tax.

into the reservoir of this:

Amazon.com: EZ Jet Water Cannon: Patio, Lawn & Garden

and spray it all over your yard.

It kills and repels mosquitoes and is harmless to humans and pets. This DIY solution cost me less than $30, and each application should be good for a month (with multiple applications per bottle). My pest control company wanted $60/month on top of what I already pay for standard treatment.

Thank you. You saved my day. I'm so bothered my mosquito here. I am planning to do a lot of vegetable in the garden so I'm wondering if I can still spray this.

I don't think it will be a problem in a garden because it's all organic.

Maybe only spray the ground and not the plants themselves?

If you want something to carry around with you, I use this:

Clip-On

I use one when I'm walking or biking and it works for me. I like it since I don't have the mess of spreading repellent all over me. Just turn it on and clip it to yourself.

I love things like this, and they do work well.
I really need to treat my yard though, because they would fly into my house every time I opened a door.

Same here, about treating the yard. I like a mult-pronged attack when it comes to dealing with the little devils.
