With the following considerations:

1) Decent commute to downtown Houston (30-45 minutes each way during rush hours)

2) Safety (away from crimes)

3) Good entertainment around (shopping, movie theaters, etc.)

4) Which area should one avoid (Southwest? Specific suburbs?)

Thanks.

Let me add a 5th creteria:

5) Diversity (in terms of Asian and Hispanics; preferrably non-illegal mexicans, but middle class hispanics).

Default South Katy/Cinco Ranch area would fit the criteria

It just depends on your budget and work locations. There are nice parts and less nice parts of each suburb. There are good schools and not so good schools in every district.

Criteria #5 implies the OP would be happier with Sugar Land.
