Never turn it off, except for those 2 or 3 days it's freezing outside, then I might turn it off.

Hey guys, on another thread I said that I probably run my a/c about 50% of the time (at least cuts on once ad ay) from October to March. Is that about what you guys do?

From October to March we have the windows open unless it is cold. We never run A/C during the winter months.

I think you guys are missing the point of the OP. They are basically bragging about the energy efficient features they added to the home. R60 is overkill as are some of the other things you did. But congratulations anyway.

Yeah...R60 is definitely overkill and probably not worth the extra cost. And unless they sealed EVERY possible hole between the attic and the house (including all the holes through which electrical and plumbing are run from the attic into the walls, the use of powered attic fans is a big mistake as they will cause negative pressure and pull air out of the house and actually increase energy usage.

bragging or not, either way 79 degree is not what I call comfortable. Plus he has 2 windows open with the a/c off, that to me is called adding moisture inside. I like my air inside colder and dryer. Just my opinion.

that really is not an option for me because I have sinus and have developed allegries since moving to Houston. Plus, in Gunspoint I like to keep it as locked up as possible.
