Jacoby Jones released by Houston Texans - NFL.com

Bout time. There is no way this guy could have stayed in town after his playoff performance.

it's the texans way of holding on too long to unworthy players. I honestly never understood what they saw in him. He didn't have the best hands. He ran like a newborn deer and had the wrong approach to breaking tackles or making guys miss with his goofy juke moves when crowded around by defenders. Juke moves are for 1 on 1 match ups not 2-3 on 1.

What is so difficult about why they hung on to him? Fast, athletic and always looked like he had potential to turn into a good receiver (in addition to being a good returner). In 2010 the guy had 51 receptions for 560 yards; that is pretty good production from your 3rd receiver spot. They had every reason to keep him around and to expect more in 2011.

Fact is 2011 was a disappointing season for him and the punt return muff in the playoffs (even though almost every returner in the league has done that more than once including Devin Hester) made it pretty much impossible to bring him back.

...have you watched any Texans games the past couple years or did you just look up stats and think he's good?

Jacoby is a terrible receiver. The only time he ever plays well is the preseason. He runs, flops, and trips whenever a ball is thrown towards him and hopes for a pass interference call every time. He has no business as an NFL receiver. I remember in one game, he was targeted 11 times, but only caught 1 pass.

As for punt returns, I'm sick of his stone hands, east to west running, and stupid decisions. If we were to judge him as PR solely on yardage accumulated, he'd be amazing because he runs side-to-side way too much but rarely ever gains any yards.

He was the 3rd receiver because he wasn't good. If he was, he wouldn't be the 3rd option. And 560 yards isn't something to brag about. You mention he's a great athlete, fast and showed potential. Kevin Walters in half the athlete as JJ but is better at everything except running in a straight line faster and having butter fingers. Also JJ was garbage at returning punts, kickoffs and couldn't block for crap.

Last year when Andre Johnson (our #1 WR) was out for most of the year this bum JJ put up world numbers of 512 yards in 16 games in his 5th year in the league. Does he need a decade to show his great talents?

AJ in his 2nd season had over 1,000 yards receiving and is a great athlete, fast and showed potential in his first year. JJ is still waiting for a 1,000 yard season going into his 6th season. It should be easy when AJ is in double coverage every game and you're supposedly the greatest football player from The Lane College lol
