Hey all, I am heading to Houston this weekend to get a feel for the areas of town that I am interested in. Are there good websites to look at for different activities? Or does anyone here know of cool things to do? I want to immerse myself. I plan on going to the East End Street Festival, as I read that 2012 is the very first year.

What else would you recommend?

Thanks in advance!!

Check out the Downtown website and Discovery Green's website. I know the art car parade is coming up soon. Something may be going on in the Heights also.

The downtown home tour sounds AMAZING! It's right up my alley. Now all I have to do is try to fit both the street festival and the home tour all in the same day/hours! Thank you!!

Side question: Any recommended restaurants? I've been told that Hughes Hangar is a must (thoughts?), Farrago's, House of Pies, Mia Belle's and Fountainview Cafe. Are these good to start with?

I know, I wish I could go but I will but I will be out of town. Since both are so close together you could do both.

And if you can't make the home tour, here are some preview pics from today's paper.
